Xbox Games Pass has provided joy to many of us PC gamers who want to try games for free on Windows 11. However, the side menu has been lacking in terms of a decent user interface design, mainly only listing the games in your collection. It seems as though Microsoft has realized they need to change it, as there’s a new update that refreshes the appearance.

Once you install the Xbox app update, you’ll notice there are new folders on the side. Your game library will still be there, but you’ll now have others to click on. Some worth noting are a community center, cloud gaming, and a store tab.

You may recall that some of these already existed in the top panel, but the new update moves them to the side while adding a few more. The user interface looks more streamlined now, and you don’t need to check on which side the tabs are. It’s a trick that Steam could learn, as its current design relates more to the previous Xbox Games Pass interface.

While it’s a substantial update, we fail to see anything else that’s been added. There’s mention of improved performance, but we have yet to view any of it on the Xbox app. The only real issue we still have is that you can’t set the download speed limit in the settings, and changing it for Windows 11 doesn’t really work in the Games Pass.

Still, experts say that Xbox Games Pass will have a massive impact on PlayStation in the near future unless the gaming giant can do something to turn the tables. With so many free console games for PC, many players are changing their gaming platforms for the new generation. We’ll wait to see how Sony responds.
